No. They were just two of many events—tragic and criminal, and clearly showing the continued hypocrisy of the times and character of american institutional morality
The American and Canadian state is still carrying on with “Kill The Indian Save The Man” project, as I understood after hearing many great lectures by Ward Churchill (I am sure you know of him very well). Thanks for the clarification, because recently I had written about Leonard Pelteir in a story about the Indigenous, from around the world.
It was and remains way too tragic for anyone in any way connected to or commenting (publicly or privately) on the life and death of Anna Mae Pictou Aquash, Z"L Rest In Resistance to Institutional Corruption and a life devoted to family, tribes and activist circles engaged in truth seeking to have been and continue to be beaten, bullied, scarred emotionally and\or physically tortured in processes artistic, creative, fact-finding, judicial and ritualistically sacred of testifying to be left traumatized and Rest in Righteous Peace those souls who paid, like Anna Mae Pictou Aquash with her (their) life (lives).
Col ha'Cavod\All due respect and Yishaar Co'Akh\May Strength Remain (for such work as remains to be done) in one Muddle Eastern and dispersed diaspora language for those upholding the courageous challenges clearly undertaken as sacred endeavors by Anna Mae Pictou Aquash and those she confided in and entrusted with carrying such living works forward.
Some academic accounts, bardic lore and even court-recorded cross examinations may indeed need revision and\or validation in what remains a murky multi-dimensional accounting of Anna Mae Pictou Aquash's life and the lives of those who truly loved and attempted to protect her and who remained her true inner circle. True Justice (whatever that is given human limitations) needn't require human sacrifice despite the larger Food Chains that we are born into. That is a belief that I hold, although here and elsewhere clearly disclose that I haven't found inscribed in my own tribes's sacred Scriptures.
Most appreciatively, if rarely comfortably....

Hi.. Anna Mae was related to Leonard Peltier?
